Landslide Prone, Drivers Asked To Be Extra Alert When Crossing The Trenggalek-Ponorogo Line
TRENGGALEK - The Regional Disaster Management Agency of Ponorogo Regency, East Java appealed to residents, especially road users, to be vigilant when crossing the Trenggalek-Ponorogo KM-19 route because there is still the potential for further landslides.
"The path can be passed (again), but all passing motorists should be extra vigilant, especially when it rains," said Head of BPBD Trenggalek Wingi Atmono, quoted by ANTARA, Monday, April 3.
The warning was given by Vili following a small landslide that triggered rock avalanches from the cliffs onto the Trenggalek-Ponorogo national road, Nglongsor Village, Tugu District, early Monday morning.
Although it did not cause any casualties, the main access from Trenggalek to Ponorogo and vice versa was applied openly because stone material was still circulating on some roads.
"Users of roads passing through the KM 19 area, please be careful because there is landslide material that closes part of the road. Traffic flow is smooth by opening lane closures," said Kriati.
After it was confirmed safe, joint officers rushed to clean up the landslide material which was dominated by soil mixed with rocks.
Previously, the location around it was raining, causing landslides to occur in the early hours of the morning.
However, the evacuation was carried out in the morning, due to soil conditions that could potentially occur aftershocks.
His party appealed to the public to increase vigilance when crossing the Trenggalek-Ponorogo National Road, especially when it rains.
Especially now, referring to the release from the BMKG Meteorological Station Class I Juanda Sidoarjo, Trenggalek is one of the areas that has the potential to be hit by extreme weather during the transition period, namely rain with moderate to heavy intensity accompanied by lightning and strong winds for a moment.
"So there is the potential for hydrometeorological disasters. In that area, the potential is landslides and fallen trees," he said.
Because along the route on national roads, it began to enter the Tugu Trenggalek sub-district to Sawo Ponorogo sub-district, passing through mountainous areas with mendulant cliff conditions.
