Planetarium Not Functioning After TIM Revitalized, Heru Budi's Subordinates Say This

JAKARTA - President Director of PT Jakarta Propertindo Iwan Takwin opened his voice over the malfunctioning of the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory (POJ) which is located in the Taman Ismail Marzuki (TIM) complex.

Various existing facilities at the Planetarium, especially the Bintang Theatre, are no longer operating. In fact, the theater, library, and other facilities at TIM are now reopening after the revitalization.

"Regarding the planetarium, physically the interior has been completed, indeed there is a process for the visual device (it's not working)," said Iwan in a short message, Monday, March 13.

Iwan admitted that currently, Jakpro as the BUMD managing TIM is trying to improve the existing facilities in the planetarium so that the building for the simulation of celestial objects can be used again by visitors.

"Currently the project team is in communication with the manufacturer of the tool so that the tool can operate normally and perfectly. We have asked the project team to accelerate this," he explained.

It was revealed that currently most of the Jakarta Planetarium and Observatory (POJ) facilities are not functioning. This is known from the results of a visit by Members of Commission E DPRD DKI Jakarta some time ago. Deputy Chairman of Commission E DPRD DKI Jakarta Anggara Wicitra Sastroamidjojo regrets this condition.

In fact, almost all objects and buildings for performing arts and culture at TIM have been revitalized by Anies Baswedan when he was still the Governor of DKI Jakarta. The value of the revitalization budget reached IDR 1.4 trillion.

"The planetarium, which is one of the main attractions for people to come to TIM, has actually not been functioning since TIM's revitalization," said Anggara to journalists, Friday, March 10.

Based on the results of the DPRD visit, a number of facilities at the Planetarium were not functioning. At the Bintang Theater show, there is no repair or replacement of the projector. Chairs in the theater are indeed replaced, but not the type of reclining seat required in the show.

We regret that TIM's quite fantastic revitalization budget did not fully cover this POJ. For example, in the Bintang Theater, only the carpet and chairs were replaced but it couldn't work because the projector didn't work," he said.

Anggara asked the Provincial Government of DKI, in this case, the Department of Culture and PT Jakarta Propertindo which is responsible for the facilities at TIM to pay attention to the Jakarta Planetarium which has high educational value.
