East Java Great Harvest Of Inpari Variety Rice
SURABAYA - The Tawang Raya Farmers Group in Ngadirejo Village, Widang District, Tuban Regency, East Java harvested a large harvest of 32 HDB inpari (irrigated paddy rice inbred) varieties in an area of 140 hectares.
This superior type of rice has a productivity of up to 9 tons of dry-milled grain (GKG) per hectare.
"This abundant harvest is thanks to the superior variety developed, namely the inbred variety of irrigated lowland rice or Inpari 32 HDB," said East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa while monitoring harvesting activities in Ngadirejo Village, Tuban, reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, March 8.
According to her, this type of rice has a number of advantages. One of them is that the yield is higher than other varieties with an average yield of 7.6 tons per hectare of dry-milled grain (GKG).
"The yield potential can reach 8.43 tons of GKG per hectare," she said.
In addition, continued Khofifah, the Inpari 32 HDB variety is classified as resistant to Bacterial Leaf Blight (HDB) or crackle disease in rice.
"That's why this rice is called the Inpari 32 HDB variety," she said.
Governor Khofifah said the world is facing the challenge of a food crisis. So maintaining rice productivity in East Java which is a national food barn is very important.
It has been recorded since 2020 that East Java's rice and rice production is the highest nationally until 2022.
Starting in 2023, based on predictions from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) data in March-April, East Java will have a rice surplus of 1.13 million tonnes.
Khofifah explained that the productivity of East Java rice is highly relied upon not only to meet the needs of the people in 16 other provinces in eastern Indonesia.
In order to continue to maintain and increase the productivity of rice and rice in East Java, Governor Khofifah encourages the use of modern agricultural tools and machines (Alsintan). One thing that must be started is the use of a harvesting machine or Combine Harvester.
"If the Combine Harvester machine is optimized, it can reduce losses by 10 - 11 percent if using manual harvesting. We calculate that the total grain production in East Java last year reached 9.8 million tons. If 10 percent can be saved, we will find a figure of 0.98 million tons. In this is where the use of the Combine Harvester machine becomes important," she said.

The former Minister of Social Affairs also advised that modern cropping patterns must be continued.
Regarding capital, Governor Khofifah offered farmers to take part in the Kukesra, namely Prosperous Family Business Credit through the East Java MSME Bank.
"Starting this year, farmers can access low-interest loans with a maximum loan value of IDR 50 million. The interest is only 3 percent a year, below KUR because the difference is borne by the East Java Provincial Budget," she said.
Furthermore, regarding fertilizer, Khofifah explained that out of 9 fertilizer categories, only 2 were subsidized. Meanwhile, farmers need a lot of SP36 which affects the yield of rice.
"We have conveyed the complaints from these farmers to the President. God willing, when the President has the main harvest in East Java this week, I will convey them again. Now many of them have yields below 70 because SP36 has been removed from the subsidized fertilizer category," she said.
