Sri Mulyani Criticizes Ex DGT Big Motorbike Club: It's Better To Walk And Eat Porridge With Me, Healthy

JAKARTA – The Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani's decision to disband the Blasting Rijder big motorbike club within the Directorate General of Taxes (DGT) apparently received objections from its members.

She conveyed this in an economic discussion with conglomerate Chairul Tanjung in Jakarta today.

"I want to relax a little ma'am. Oh well, you don't have to relax by riding a big motorbike. Just walk with me at Senayan and eat chicken porridge, that's healthy," she said on Tuesday, February 28, imitating a dialogue with members of the DGT motorcycle club.

According to the Minister of Finance, driving or owning a big motorbike tends to give a negative perspective on the performance that has been built. Therefore, the state treasurer encourages her staff to prioritize integrity as well as empathy and sympathy for the community.

"If you look luxurious, people will get angry and make your position defensive," she said.

In the previous editorial report, it was stated that the Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani instructed the Director General of Taxes Suryo Utomo to dissolve the Blasting Rijder DGT motorcycle club. She reasoned that the high-profile lifestyle could raise suspicions about the source of wealth among employees.

"Even if the motorbikes were obtained and purchased with legal money and official salaries, driving and showing off motorbikes for officials or tax officials and the Ministry of Finance has violated the principle of decency and public decency," she said.
