PSG's Surprising Passive Performance
JAKARTA - Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) failed to take advantage of the opportunity to host the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League. Entertaining Bayern Munich at the Stade Parc des Princes, Les Parisiens lost.
Kingsley Coman scored the only goal against his former club PSG to bring Bayern Munich to a 1-0 win in the match which was held on Wednesday, February 15, early morning WIB.
PSG's appearance was not that impressive in this match. Instead, they defended more and allowed Bayern to have more control over the ball.
In fact, PSG's performance in this match surprised the Bayern coach, Julian Nagelsmann. He admitted that he was surprised why Christophe Galtier's troops allowed his team to appear dominant in this match.
"We played a very good game in the first 25 minutes, had very good control. We could even play more directly towards their goal," said Nagelsmann, as reported by Live Score.
"You have the feeling that we were very surprised, we had so much possession and PSG looked passive."
"I know they always defend deeper but the fact they are so passive and not really set up to win the ball surprises me a bit," he continued.
This victory is clearly an important capital for Bayern who will host the second leg of the last 16 which will take place at the Allianz Arena, March 9.
