JAKARTA - The Tanjung Priok Sector Police (Polsek), North Jakarta, have arrested two suspected perpetrators of mugging around the Tanjung Priok Bus Terminal, North Jakarta.

"We received reports from the public through the Tanjung Priok Police 'call center', then we immediately identified the perpetrators. Then we moved and arrested the perpetrators," said Head of the Tanjung Priok Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit (Polsek) Adjunct Police Commissioner Bryan Wicaksono, quoted from Antara, Wednesday night.

According to AKP Bryan, prior to the arrest, officers had identified activities around the terminal before arresting the two suspected mugging perpetrators with the initials AM (24) and DS (underage).

Previously, circulating on social media, a video of the seconds of the arrest of the suspected mugger who was allegedly in action around the Tanjung Priok terminal by a number of personnel from the Tanjung Priok Police Criminal Investigation Unit.

"Currently we have secured two (people)," said Bryan.

Bryan said that based on preliminary identification, it was suspected that there had been more than five acts of mugging by the two perpetrators. According to Bryan, the targets of mugging are residents who use cell phones around stations and terminals to place orders with online motorcycle taxis.

"Yes, that's where the perpetrators took the opportunity to take the victim's cellphone," he said.

However, it is suspected that the gang often changes.

"We have secured several perpetrators of mugging around Tanjung Priok, namely at the station and terminal and we are already processing them. Some have been dropped and some are still being processed by the prosecutor's office," said Bryan.

Bryan added, for the time being, the two alleged perpetrators were threatened with being subject to Article 364 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) concerning the crime of light theft.
