Schedule Of 8 Indonesian Representatives At The 2023 India Open Today: Civil War Again In Men's Doubles
JAKARTA — The 2023 India Open badminton tournament enters its second round today, Thursday, January 19. The following is the schedule of eight Indonesian representatives who will compete.
The round of 16 of the Super 750 BWF level event which took place at the Indira Gandhi Arena, New Delhi, India immediately brought together Indonesian representatives in the men's doubles.
The duel in question was a clash between world number one Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto and last year's All England champion, Bagas Maulana/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri.
Fajar/Rian, who were the second seeds, reached the round of 16 after bringing home the Korean pair, Choi Sol Gyu/Kim Won Ho, while Bagas/Fikri stopped the Chinese representatives, He Jiting/Zhou Haodong.
This will be the fifth clash between Fajar/Rian and Bagas/Fikri. Of the four previous meetings, Fajar/Rian only lost once in their first duel in the last 32 of the Indonesia Masters 2021.
Three matches after that, respectively at the 2021 Indonesia Open, 2022 Korea Open, and 2022 Indonesia Open, Fajar/Rian always won over their Pelatnas colleague.
Apart from the two pairs above, the men's doubles also have Marcus Fernaldi Gideon/Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo who will face Ren Xiang Yu/Tan Qiang (China).
Meanwhile, five other Indonesian representatives were Gregoria Mariska Tunjung, Dejan Ferdinansyah/Gloria Emanuelle Widjaja, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Rehan Naufal/Lisa Ayu Kusumawati, and Jonatan Christie.
