Kevin Ardilova Reveals The Hardest Thing During The Process Of “Autobiography” Film

JAKARTA - Young actor Kevin Ardilova has a difficult role in the film "Autobiography". Playing in films that have complicated stories and are surrounded by senior actors such as Arswendy Bening Swara, Lukman Sardi, and Rukman Rosadi, the 23-year-old actor admits that he has learned a lot.

Finding Rakib's character is recognized by Kevin as the most difficult thing he faced during the process of this film. "The tough thing is to make the character. Because sometimes it's a bit tricky at times, at least for me," he said when met in the Setiabudi area, South Jakarta on Tuesday, January 17.

Journey

"Over time, the character continues to develop, continue to develop. So sometimes what I had thought 3 months ago, 3 months later I forgot. So, actually, if you want to talk about the weight, it's not the filming but the process of the character's journey that is difficult," he continued.

In the process of discovering Rakib's character, Kevin had intense communication with director Makbul Mubarak. They discussed the development of Rakib's character several times. According to the existing scenario, the character himself experiences several emotional changes throughout the story.

From the results of his discussion with Makbul, Kevin revealed that there were differences in Rakib's style of dress, speech, and way of walking, starting from the beginning, middle to the end of the story. In the end, Rakib's character also had to lose his independence, including the freedom over his own body.

Kevin himself sees Rakib's character as similar to his former self. “The first time he read Rakib, his fear, and anger towards society were almost the same. So maybe when I read Rakib I was somewhat related. Even when you watch it, you still feel like you really want to live with Rakib's feelings, with his thoughts," he said.

Summarizing the long process he went through to find Rakib's character, Kevin sees Autobiography as a film that speaks out loud about independence. “This film is actually about independence, independence is not about where we live, about what we have, not about how much we have, but about the soul. Freedom of the soul over the body, freedom over the mind. So, in my opinion, this film is about independence,” he concluded.

As information, Kevin Ardilova through his appearance in Autobiography was nominated in the Best Leading Actor category at 2 award events, the 2022 Infonesia Film Festival and the Tempo Film Festival. Winning in the last mentioned event, Kevin was still unlucky because he lost to Marthino Lio in the FFI event.
