Angkot Drivers In Pasar Rebo Are Extraordinarily Stubborn, Police Are Ignored And About To Be Hit
JAKARTA - Head of Ciracas Police Traffic Unit AKP Gede Oka revealed that traffic violations in the East Jakarta area have been increasingly prevalent since the implementation of electronic traffic ticketing or ETLE (Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement) as a substitute for manual ticketing.
In fact, said Oka, on Monday, January 16, traffic police officers encountered resistance from a bus driver who committed a traffic violation on TB Simatupang Street near the Pasar Rebo red light intersection, East Jakarta.
"The red number 19 public transportation car coming from the direction of Rindam, Condet, East Jakarta, forced itself to run through the red light," said Oka, as quoted from Antara, Tuesday, January 17.
The warning from the traffic police officer who was at the location was ignored by the angkot driver. In fact, he was about to be hit by the angkot driver.
"After I warned him, the person in question pretended not to see the officers. Reminded again, he forced himself to keep going and was about to crash into me, because a member was recording the video, he immediately turned left towards Kramat Jati," he said.
Stopping the enforcement of manual tickets, said Oka, has made traffic violators ignore the officers in the field.
