Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Happy, Crypto Taxes Collected IDR 246.4 Billion in Just Seven Months
JAKARTA – The Minister of Finance, Sri Mulyani, revealed that tax collection from crypto transactions had reached IDR 246.4 billion at the end of December 2022.
According to him, this value was obtained since crypto levies began to take effect on May 1, 2022, or were paid by the public as of June 1, 2022.
"This is the impact of tax reform on state revenues for 2022", he said when giving a presentation to journalists, quoted on Wednesday, January 4.
Minister of Finance detailed, the fiscal regulation on technology assets consists of two kinds. First, income tax (PPh) article 22 on domestic trade transactions through the Electronic System (PMSE) and self-deposits with a value of IDR 117.4 billion.
"Second is the domestic value added tax (VAT) for collection by non-treasurers of IDR 129 billion", he said.

For information, crypto taxes will be enforced in 2022 along with the passage of the Tax Regulation Harmonization Act (HPP) at the end of 2021.
The contribution of the digital asset trading sector also supports the achievement of the tax revenue target in the 2022 State Budget of IDR 1,716.8 trillion from the initial assumption of only IDR 1,486 trillion.
"This is a form of support from economic activities that really need to be taxed", said Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani.
