If Gareth Southgate Quits Being the England National Team Coach, Thomas Tuchel Is Ready to Volunteer
JAKARTA - Former Chelsea boss, Thomas Tuchel, is reportedly willing to become England's national team coach. With a note, Gareth Southgate decided to leave.
Tuchel is currently unemployed and enjoying time in Germany. He was sacked by the Blues in September 2022.
Now Tuchel has ambitions to return to England, but not to join a club. The 49-year-old man wants to return to England as boss of The Three Lions.
He has seen firsthand all the young talent that King Charles' country has, both at Stamford Bridge and other Premier League clubs.
They include Mason Mount, Reece James, Conor Gallagher, Raheem Sterling, and Ben Chilwell. All of them are the pillars of the England national team squad.
Actually, the English Football Federation (FA) really wants Southgate to stay even though he failed to lead his team to the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup. The former Middlesbrough coach's contract actually remains until the end of 2024.
However, Southgate intends to take a moment to decide his future, whether to continue his work with England until EURO 2024 or end it sooner.
If Southgate does choose to call it quits, the FA would understandably prefer to appoint a candidate from Great Britain. Graham Potter, Brendan Rodgers, and Eddie Howe have all been on the radar.
The former manager of Tottenham Hotspur, Mauricio Pochettino, is at the top if judged purely from the bookies' version of opportunities.
