Losing IDR 1 Billion to the State More from Official Travel Corruption, Secretary of Southwest Maluku Named as a Suspect

AMBON - Southwest Maluku District Attorney (MBD) investigator, Maluku Province, detained the Regional Secretary of MBD Regency with the initials AS after being named a suspect in a case of alleged corruption in the official travel budget for the 2017 and 2018 fiscal years.

"The state financial loss, in this case, amounted to IDR 1.565 billion", said the Head of Legal Information and Public Relations of the Maluku Attorney, General Wahyudi Kareba, in Ambon, Antara on Tuesday, November 29.

According to him, the amount of state financial losses was known based on the results of expert calculations from the Republic of Indonesia's Financial and Development Audit Agency (BPKP) Representative for Maluku Province.

AS as the Budget User According to the Decree of the MBD Regent Number 835-06 of 2016 dated 02 November 2016 and the Decree of the MBD Regent Number 821-21 of 2018 dated 16 January 2018.

"He is strongly suspected of having made fictitious evidence of accountability for evidence of a Fund Disbursement Order (SP2D) related to official travel within the region and outside the region for the 2017 and 2018 fiscal years at the Regional Secretariat of the MBD Regency", he said.

After properly summoning him to provide information as a witness at the Maluku Prosecutor's Office, the MBD State Prosecutor's Investigative Team then named the person concerned as a suspect.

The US suspect was involved in cases of alleged abuse of payment of direct travel expenses within the region and outside the region at the Regional Secretariat of Southwest Maluku Regency in 2017 and 2018.

"After undergoing examination, the suspect was immediately detained for 20 days at the Class IIA Ambon Detention Center", said Wahyudi.
