Novotel Hotel Kitchen in West Jakarta Burns, Losses Estimated at Hundreds of Millions Rupiah

JAKARTA - One of the rooms at the Novotel Hotel, Gajah Mada Street No. 188, Glodok Village, Tamansari District, West Jakarta, was burnt down. Losses due to this fire are estimated at hundreds of millions of rupiah.

According to estimates, the fire originated from cooking activities in the kitchen. "The fire is thought to have started from the stove in the hotel kitchen", said West Jakarta Gulkarmat Sub-dept. Head Syafrudin when confirmed by VOI, Monday, November 21.

The fire burned the room where the kitchen was on the 6th floor of the hotel. "The area burned is about 72 square meters", he said.

At least 5 fire engines were dispatched to the scene of the fire. As many as 25 officers arrived at the location at around 11.48 WIB and began carrying out firefighting operations. "After more than 30 minutes of watering, the fire was extinguished at 12.29 WIB", he said.

As a result of the fire incident, the owner is estimated to have suffered losses in the hundreds of millions. "The loss is estimated at IDR 100 million", he said.
