SUMSEL - Heads of prisons and state detention centers in South Sumatra (Sumsel) were asked to intensify "Halinar" raids or control the use of smartphones or illegal levies (extortion).

"Halinar raids or controlling the use of gadgets, illegal levies (extortion), as well as the circulation and abuse of drugs in prisons and remand centers, to prevent the misuse of these items as well as disruption of security and order in prisons/detention centers," said Harun in Palembang, South Sumatra, quoted from Antara, Sunday 30 October.

According to him, his party is committed to creating an environment for prisons and detention centers that are free of corruption (WBK) and bureaucratic areas that are clean to serve (WBBM) and free from drug abuse.

This commitment, he continued, must be firmly held and realized with good performance in accordance with the duties and functions of prison and remand center officers.

In addition, to realize "Zero Halinar" prison and detention center officers in 17 regencies/cities within the local province are asked to synergize with other law enforcement officers so that if there are prisoners who commit acts of law violations, they can be processed according to the provisions.

He explained, in general, all prisons and detention centers in this province have realized "Zero Halinar" as evidenced by every sudden inspection there is no indication of officers making illegal levies (extortion), prisoners or correctional inmates (WBP) keep their devices in the detention room and taking drugs.

To maintain these conditions, Halinar raids will be carried out intensively with random and sudden times.

In addition to these raids, the Internal Compliance Operational Unit (Satops Patnal) Team of the South Sumatra Ministry of Law and Human Rights from time to time was deployed to 20 prisons and detention centers spread across the local province, If it is found that prison and detention center officers facilitate the occurrence of Halinar violations, they will be dealt with and processed with sanctions according to the level of error, said Kakanwil.

The Head of the Correctional Division (Kadivpas) of South Sumatra, Bambang Haryanto, added that his party is trying its best to curb Halinar violations as well as disturbances in security and order in the prison or prison environment.

In order to control Halinar and enforce security and order in the prison environment, his party places security officers at security posts by involving structural officials and staff officers to assist in the implementation of security duties.
