JAKARTA - The Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham) stated that 108 terror convicts had pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia. That number is from January to September 2022.
"This is an achievement. To this day the number of terrorism convicts who have pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is 108 people," said the Director of Prisoners Development and Production Job Training at the Directorate General of Corrections of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Thurman Hutapea, when confirmed, Wednesday, September 14.
With the achievement of this number, the performance target of the Directorate Ministry of Law and Human Rights has reached 216 percent by 2022.
This was conveyed by Thurman after witnessing two terrorism convicts at the Class IIA Cibinong Correctional Institution taking an oath of allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
The two are Anang Yudi Riswanto Bin Salaman, a terrorist convict of the Jamaah Islamiah (JI) network who was sentenced to three years in prison, and M. Saliwi Bin Mukhlis, of the Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) network who is currently serving a four-year sentence.
Thurman emphasized that coaching within the framework of the deradicalization program for terrorism convicts is not an easy matter. Therefore, the Ministry of Law and Human Rights appreciates the ranks of the Class IIA Cibinong Prison for their hard work and dedication so that they have succeeded in increasing the number of terrorism convicts who have pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
He hopes that the pledge of allegiance that has been uttered will be the beginning of the awakening of a fostered citizen to become a member of the community who has an awareness of their rights and obligations. Both as individuals, communities, and as citizens.
"We hope that terrorism convicts who have vowed to return to the home of the Republic of Indonesia can carry themselves properly and establish relationships with others," he said.
