BWF World Championship 2022: Fajar/Rian Carry Out Revenge Mission To Hendra/Ahsan
JAKARTA - Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Rian Ardianto men's doubles carry a revenge mission against Hendra Setiawan/Mohammad Ahsan at the 2022 World Championship in Japan.
Fajar/Rian and Hendra/Ahsan will meet in the semifinals on Saturday, August 27 tomorrow. This will be their second meeting in the same round and championship after 2019.
In the first meeting, The Daddies managed to come out victorious and forced their juniors to go home with bronze medals. The Daddies then continued their run by taking home the gold medal.
"For tomorrow, we don't want to be careless anymore because in 2019 we lost against Ahsan / Hendra, our seniors, in the semifinals. We try to stay focused, prepare ourselves, maintain conditions," said Rian in an official statement received by VOI.
Fajar/Rian confirmed that they will compete in the semifinals this year after they won over the British pair Ben Lane/Sean Vendy in two straight games, 21-11, 21-16.
The victory over Lane/Vendy automatically made Fajar/Rian repeat their achievements in 2019 bringing home a bronze medal. For that, they want their achievements this year to exceed their achievements three years ago.

"We have confirmed the medal, but we don't want it to end here. We want to upgrade the medal if we can get to the highest one. Hopefully in every match we can put out our best game and win again," said Fajar.
Fajar/Rian and Hendra/Ahsan have faced each other four times in competitive events. Of the number of encounters, both pairs share a fair share of two wins each.
In addition to the defeat in the semifinals at the World Championships, Fajar/Rian felt another defeat from their seniors when they faced off at the Indonesia Masters 2020. Meanwhile, The Daddies lost to Fajar/Rian when they met at the 2018 German Open and this year's Malaysia Masters.
