Loud And Firm! Lebanese Hezbollah Leader Gives Warning To Israel: Any Attack On Humans Will Not Be Allowed
JAKARTA - Lebanese Hezbollah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah warned Israel not to expand its attacks on Palestinian militias into Lebanon.
This was conveyed by Nasrallah in a televised address marking Ashura Day, the annual celebration of Shia Muslims to commemorate the assassination of Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, Tuesday, August 9.
"Any attack on humans will not go unpunished or answered," Nasrallah said.
Nasrallah's remarks follow the outbreak of violence between Israel and the Islamic Jihad movement in the Gaza Strip which was sparked by Israel's arrest of a senior leader of Islamic Jihad earlier this August.
Last weekend, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz signaled the possibility of his targeting Islamic Jihad officials abroad who, he said, were seen in "restaurants and hotels in Tehran, Syria and Lebanon."
"They also have to be held accountable," he said.
In his statement on Monday, the day after an Egyptian-brokered ceasefire to end violence in Gaza, Gantz said Israel could carry out deterrence attacks abroad.
"In the future, if necessary, we will launch deterrence attacks to defend Israel's citizens, sovereignty, and infrastructure. And this applies to all frontlines from Tehran to Khan Younis," he said.
