His Performance Matches Expectations, Diogo Jota Will Be Rewarded With A New Contract Even Though He Is Still Struggling With Injuries
JAKARTA - Good news has come from Liverpool for one of their players, Diogo Jota. The Reds will extend the striker's contract even though he is currently still recovering from injury.
The Merseyside club can now focus on Jota after extending Mohamed Salah's contract.
"Liverpool is in talks over a new contract for Diogo Jota," the report said.
Although currently, Jota himself is undergoing a recovery period from a hamstring injury, that is not an excuse for Liverpool. Because for the Reds the player continues to show positive developments and is even predicted to be able to return to training in the next two weeks.
Jota was previously absent from the agenda for the team's meeting with Manchester City in the 2022 Community Shield. In that meeting, the Reds won, 3-1 at the King Power Stadium, Leicester, last weekend.
Although Jota did not help the team on the agenda, but he has given an impressive performance in the previous match and helped Liverpool secure the title.
So far he has appeared in 55 matches in various competitions. During that period, the former Wolverhampton Wanderes player scored 21 goals and contributed eight assists. Last season, Jota was also involved in the hunt for the Carabao Cup and FA Cup titles.
Liverpool, which has been left by Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich, still has Jota who can continue to help competitive performances in Liverpool's attack line with Moh Salah, Roberto Firmino, Luis Diaz, and Darwin Nunez.
