Emma Raducanu Gets Coach Of Competitors Who Can't Participate In US Open 2022 Because Of Russian Citizenship

JAKARTA - A young British tennis player, Emma Raducanu has hired a new coach from Russia to defend her title at the US Open tournament. This is not the first time he has changed his coach.

Raducanu once decided to change coaches after winning the title at the 2021 US Open. This decision actually affected his unstable performance.

After parting ways with Torben Beltz in April 2022, Raducanu does not have a permanent coach. As a result, he was only able to reach the second round of Wimbledon 2022.

Quoted from The Sun, in order to return to defend his title at this year's US Open, Raducanu has appointed a new coach. During the tournament in America, Raducanu will be accompanied by Dmitry Tursunov.

The Russian coach is actually the world number two women's singles mentor, Anett Kontaveit. However, during the competition in America, Kontaveit could not participate because it was hampered by Russian citizenship.

This situation was then used by Raducanu to hook Tursunov as his coach during tournaments in America and Canada. After agreeing to cooperate, Raducanu will begin training for Tursunov next week in Washington DC.

Tursunov is also not new to the world of tennis. Because he has reached a career high by entering the world's 20th ranking. He has also won the Davis Cup for Russia.

The coach then decided to retire in 2017. After that, Tursunov did not immediately leave the tennis world because he chose to coach Anett Kontaveit and was able to bring him into the list of the top five women's tennis.
