Batam Customs Thwarts Methamphetamine Smuggling Via Packages Destination NTB
BATAM - Batam Customs and Excise thwarted the smuggling of 257.8 grams of methamphetamine or methamphetamine in packages sent to West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“The methamphetamine is packaged in two packs in medium-sized clear clips and stored in a bag that is smuggled in with a consignment package scheme. The narcotics were intercepted by Batam Customs at the temporary stockpile (TPS)", said Head of the Batam Customs Information Service Section, Undani, as quoted by ANTARA, Wednesday, July 20.
The perpetrator was arrested after officers conducted an investigation into the illicit goods and managed to find the location of the recipient's house which is located in West Lombok, NTB.
After confirming the owner of the goods, the officers immediately secured the suspect along with evidence in the form of digital scales and two glass straws.
"The suspect with the initials UJ, a 37-year-old man was arrested along with the evidence that has been secured in the form of two packs of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and two glass straws", he said.

The suspect and the evidence that had been secured were taken to the office of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of West Nusa Tenggara Province for further processing.
"Efforts to smuggle methamphetamine can be charged with Law no. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics Article 114 paragraph (2) and/or Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) with the threat of death penalty/life imprisonment, or a minimum of 6 years and a maximum of 20 years, as well as a fine maximum of IDR 10 billion", he continued.
