JAKARTA - Various G20 meetings with the theme of women's empowerment in the economic sector are considered a starting point in overcoming various problems related to women and children.
This was conveyed by the Chairperson of the National Committee for the G20 2022 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment (MCWE), Lenny N. Rosalin, at the Medan Merdeka Barat 9 Forum dialogue event, Thursday 14 July.
"If I may draw a common thread, indeed the issues raised at the various meetings all lead to the issue of how women's empowerment in the economic sector becomes the entry point for the next various interventions", said Lenny.
She said that G20 member countries have great concern for women's empowerment which is indicated by engagement groups such as G20 Empower and Women 20 (W20) which discuss issues related to gender equality and women's empowerment.
According to her, with the realization of economically empowered women, various problems such as child marriage, child labor, and violence against women and children can be overcome.
Lenny said the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection had also received direction from President Jokowi to empower women in the economic field, especially in the field of entrepreneurship with a gender perspective.
"So, if you didn't have a business before, then you have a business, how will the results of that business provide benefits, not only for yourself but also for your family", said the Deputy for Gender Equality at the Ministry of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection (PPPA), according to Antara.
She added that a prosperous family can provide children with good education and health and prevent domestic violence.
