There Will Be A Garuda Shield Exercise With The US Military, This Is The Hope Of The TNI General Dudung

JAKARTA - The joint exercise with the United States Army (US) is expected not only to improve the capabilities of soldiers, but also to build communication between soldiers of each participating country.

This was conveyed by the Chief of Staff of the Indonesian Army, General TNI Dudung Abdurachman. The joint exercise codenamed "Garuda Shield" is scheduled to take place in August 2022.

"Cooperation in the 'Garuda Shield' exercise at the tactical and technical levels later, must further realize excellent communication and coordination between our two armies," Dudung said in a press release, quoted from Antara, Tuesday, July 12. The Pentagon, Arlington Virginia, USA, Monday July 11, Dudung was warmly welcomed by the US Army Chief of Staff, General James C McConville. McConville's warm welcome showed that bilateral relations between the Indonesian Army and the US Army were getting better. McConville also appreciated the cooperation in education carried out by the two Armed Forces. The presence of the Military Academy cadets at West Point became one of McConville's concerns.

"I hope every year the Military Academy can send its cadets to participate in education at West Point," he said.

The two Army leaders agreed to increase cooperation in dealing with the dynamic development of the situation in the Indo Pacific region.

Furthermore, the conversation between the two army generals ended with the exchange of souvenirs as a form of close friendship between the two countries.

During the working visit, Dudung was accompanied by an intelligence assistant, training assistant and territorial assistant, McConville received directly in his office along with the US Army Military Cooperation staff, Ronald Stafford.
