U-19 Indonesian National Team Failed To The 2022 AFF Semifinals Despite Winning Against Myanmar, PSSI To File A Protest
JAKARTA — The Indonesian U-19 national team has certainly been eliminated from the 2022 AFF Cup. They failed to make it to the semifinals despite a big 5-1 win over Myanmar.
The U-19 Indonesian National Team played the last match of Group A at the Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, West Java, on Sunday, July 10 evening WIB.
The winning goals for Indonesia were scored by Muhammad Ferarri (two goals), Arkhan Fikri, Rabbani Tasmin, and Ronaldo Kwateh. The single goal for Myanmar was scored by La Min Htwe.
The victory over Myanmar made Shin Tae-Yong's squad collect 11 points. However, they still did not qualify for the semifinals because Thailand and Vietnam drew 1-1.

The draw made Thailand and Vietnam entitled to the semifinal tickets after remaining in the first and second positions of the group. Vietnam qualified as group winners, while Thailand was runner-up.
Actually, the collection of points from the two teams is the same as that collected by Indonesia from four matches. However, they excel in goal productivity compared to the Garuda squad.
After the match, the General Chairperson of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan, intended to file an official protest with the AFF. This protest was related to the match between Thailand and Vietnam which ended 1-1 because it was considered detrimental to Indonesia.
"We will discuss it first at PSSI. We will convey that we are quite disadvantaged," said Iriawan.
