MotoGP Germany 2022, First Time In 40 Years Honda Doesn't Get Points In One Race

JAKARTA – The German MotoGP race last weekend gave a bleak record for Honda. For the first time in 40 years Honda has not scored any points in a single race.

Three of their four riders, both from Repsol Honda and LCR Honda, were not even able to finish during the German MotoGP race which was held at the Sachsenring Circuit, Sunday, June 19.

Of the four riders who took part at that time, only Stefan Bradl was able to finish. However, he only filled the 16th place. Meanwhile, Pol Espargaro, Takaaki Nakagami, and Alex Marquez failed. A bad record like this was last experienced by Honda at the 1982 French Grand Prix. However, at that time Honda did not get points for boycotting the De Nogaro Circuit track which was considered unsafe.

Since the incident in France, the Japanese manufacturer has always won points in 663 consecutive premier class races. Including wins from 2010 to 2021 in Germany.

Before getting the dark record above, Honda was recorded to have always dominated the Sachsenring starting from Dani Pedrosa between 2010 and 2012 and continued to Marquez's glory from 2013 until last season.

Currently the top of the MotoGP standings is still occupied by defending champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha). The French rider collected 172 points, followed by Aleix Espargaro (Aprilia) in second with 138 points.
