SERANG - Two of the five swallow's nest thieves in the North Serang area were caught by the Mobile Investigation Team (Resmob) of the Serang Police and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Tanara Police. The officer said that the perpetrators were a group of specialists who targeted the swallow bird's nest.

The two perpetrators, namely NR (29), a resident of Pontang Subdistrict, Serang Regency, were arrested in the Kebasiran Village area, Sawah Luhur Village, Kasemen District, Serang City. Meanwhile, suspect PS (45), a resident of Carenang District, Serang District, was arrested in Tengkurak Village and Village, Tirtayasa District.

“The two suspects were arrested at two different locations in Kasemen District, Serang City, and Tirtayasa, Serang Regency, on Saturday (18 June). Three other perpetrators whose identities have been known are still being pursued," said Serang Police Chief, Grand Commissioner Adjutant Yudha Satria, Monday, June 20.

Still, Yuda said, from the results of the examination, it was known that the last perpetrators carried out their actions on Tuesday (24 June) at the swallow house belonging to victim MH (47) in Lempuyang Village, Tanara District.

"From the swallow's nest owned by MH, the perpetrators stole about 8 kilograms of swallow's nest or equivalent to a price of IDR 80,000,000," said Yudha.

The theft case was revealed when the victim found out that the key to the swallow's door was broken. In addition, the victim found a number of equipment left by the perpetrator including a flashlight, hacksaw, iron bars, and hacksaw around the swallow's nest.

Within a month of receiving the report, the Resmob Team led by Insp. Iwan Rudini managed to find out the identity of one perpetrator, namely NR. The Resmob team and the Tanara Police Criminal Investigation Unit managed to arrest the suspect in a fish pond area in the Kebasiran area.

"The suspect NR did not fight back when he was arrested and admitted that he had stolen the swallow's nest. From the suspect's confession, the identities of the other 4 perpetrators emerged," said Yudha Satria.

Without wasting any time, the officers immediately went after the other 4 perpetrators and managed to apprehend the suspect PS alias Dono at a resident's house in Tengkurak Village, Tirtayasa District.

"After arresting PS alias Dono, the officers moved to the location of the houses of the other three perpetrators but were unable to arrest them because the perpetrators were not at their homes," he explained.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Criminal Investigation Unit of Serang Police, Commissioner Adjutant Dedi Mirza added that while in action NR was tasked with breaking down the door lock of the swallow's nest and monitoring the surrounding situation. Meanwhile, PS together with 3 actors who are still in DPO are tasked with picking up swallow's nests.

"NR's job is to dismantle the lock on the door of the swallow's house and monitor the surroundings, while the other 4 perpetrators pick up the swallow's nest," explained Dedi Mirza.

Dedi explained that the two suspects admitted that together with 3 friends they had committed 11 times the theft of swallow nests. The loot was sold for IDR 7,000,000 per kilogram to middlemen found in the coastal area of Tangerang. "The stolen goods are always sold to middlemen in the Tangerang area for IDR 7 million per kilo. It's just that the two suspects don't know the location, because we are still chasing the other perpetrators," explained Dedi.

As a result of their actions, the two suspects were charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code with a penalty of 5 years in prison.
