MALANG - The appointment of former TNI Commander Hadi Tjahjanto as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) is expected to be able to accelerate the agrarian reform program in the country.
A political observer from Brawijaya University Wawan Sobari Ph. D. in Malang, East Java, Thursday said that the replacement of Sofyan Djalil by Hadi was a form of refreshment carried out by President Joko Widodo.
"I think we need a new figure like Hadi Tjahjanto. more discipline," said Wawan.
Wawan explained that Hadi Tjahjanto, who has a military background, is expected to provide a different approach in an effort to accelerate the agrarian reform program and regional spatial planning.
According to him, related to spatial planning it is not the obligation of the central government. However, the central government is expected to cooperate with local governments to accelerate agrarian and spatial reform.
"In my opinion, the central government should start to intervene and cooperate with the regions," he said.

President Joko Widodo appointed Zulkifli Hasan as Minister of Trade and Hadi Tjahjanto as Minister of Agrarian and Spatial Planning/Head of the National Land Agency (BPN) on 15 June 2022.
Zulkifli and Hadi's inauguration was based on a Presidential Decree of the Republic of Indonesia Number 64P of 2022 concerning the Appointment of State Ministers for the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet for the 2019-2024 Period.
Minister of Trade Zulkifli Hasan is the Chair of the 2014-2019 MPR who is also the General Chair of PAN, replacing Muhammad Lutfi. Meanwhile, Hadi Tjahjanto is the TNI Commander for 2017-2021, replacing Sofyan Djalil.
