Now! Number Of COVID-19 Patients Suspected Of Omicron BA.4 And BA Sub Variants Increase

TANGERANG - Tangerang Regency COVID-19 spokesman, Dr. Hendra Tarmizi, admitted that his area experienced an increase in COVID-19. 98 people have been infected with active cases of the virus.

"If cases increase, from last week, 2 weeks ago. Our active cases are 46, last week we were 98", said Hendra when contacted, Thursday, June 16.

The increase in COVID-19 cases in the region, said Hendra, did not rule out the possibility that it was the Omicron BA.4 and BA sub-variants.

Therefore, to prove whether any of its citizens were infected with the Omicron BA.4 and BA.5 sub-variants, the Ministry of Health requested a sample of the area.

"We regencies/cities send samples to the Ministry of Health (to) detect whether new patients or not (infected with Omicron BA.4 and BA.5) sub-variants", he concluded.

Previously, it was reported that the Regent of Tangerang, Ahmed Zaki Iskandar, suspected that the new Omicron subvariant, BA.4 and BA.5, were detected in his area again.

This was conveyed after he held a coordination meeting with the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan.

"The results from our coordination meeting last Saturday with Pak Luhut and also several experts including the Minister of Health, it is suspected that this variant already exists and may have entered Tangerang Regency", Zaki told reporters at the Yasmin Hotel, Curug, Tangerang Regency, Wednesday, June 15.
