Find Two Million Phishing Links In Indonesia, Kaspersky Will Focus On Educating The Public Regarding The Dangers Of Phishing
JAKARTA - In today's digital era, phishing remains the most effective trick in cybercriminals' arms. This is a well-known way to penetrate the network of users or even companies by exploiting the emotions of users.
In a face-to-face meeting with the media on Tuesday, June 14, Kaspersky discussed Indonesia's current cybersecurity landscape and how users to businesses can fortify themselves in a powerful way.
In his presentation, Dony Koesmandarin as Territory Manager, Kaspersky Indonesia said that Kaspersky blocked approximately two million phishing links in Indonesia.
"There is as many as 7.70 percent of Indonesians clicking on phishing links in 2021," Dony said in Jakarta.
Dony also describes the favorite messenger applications for scammers in spreading phishing links are WhatsApp and Telegram.

“The success of phishing is largely determined by the low level of user awareness of how the entity that the fraudster is trying to imitate operates. Humans remain the weakest link in this scope. Both users and customers, remain a potential target for phishing attacks," said Dony.
Dony continued, Kaspersky will continue to provide education to the Indonesian people to always be aware of links from unclear sources.
"For organizations, internal employees need new training and third-party services must also be evaluated comprehensively. Therefore, to eradicate this type of threat, a strong collaboration from all stakeholders is needed," he added.
A possible scenario is given that one app has all the financial details of the user, a simple phishing link asking for the user's credentials could compromise all the data available in the app. This increases the possible damaging effects of this threat.
