Jakarta Wins The Flood Control System Twice, PDIP: Is There A Benefit For The People Of Jakarta?

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PDIP faction of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, Gembong Warsono, assesses that winning the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's flood control system in an international event is useless. Although the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's flood system during the leadership of DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan has won the award twice, Gembong said Jakarta residents are still often hit by floods during the rainy season.

"When the assessment is received, the next question is whether the award has any benefits for the people of Jakarta or not?" said Gembong when contacted, Sunday, June 12.

Gembong said that if Anies and his staff had a good flood management system, all flood control programs should have succeeded in reducing the impact of the flood disaster that is still being faced by the community today.

"I said this is useless for the residents, even though the governor received an award. Why is it useless? Due to the fact, that if the detection is good, then the residents will automatically not be flooded.

For information, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government's Flood Control System in the Jakarta Smart City application won first place at the IDC Smart City Asia/Pacific Awards 2022 international event.

At the IDC Smart City Asia/Pacific Awards 2022, the Jakarta Smart City Flood Control System outperformed innovations from other countries, such as China, Taiwan, Australia, to the Philippines.

Winning the champion in this control system is the second time after winning the 2022 WSIS Prizes event some time ago. This award won by Jakarta outperformed other countries, such as Saudi Arabia, Italy, Chile, and China in the E-Science category.

The flood control system created by the DKI Provincial Government functions to predict potential disasters before a flood occurs and optimizes control when floods submerge Jakarta.
