Uber Provides Special Application For WFP To Help Food Distribution Program In Ukraine

JAKARTA - Uber announced on Wednesday, June 8 that it has donated a special version of its "Uber Direct" software application to the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to help distribute food in Ukraine.

In a joint statement with Uber quoted by Reuters, WFP said it is increasing operations in Ukraine and hopes to provide food and cash to 3 million people per month by this June.

The software will allow WFP to coordinate vehicle fleets and track deliveries in real time to densely populated areas where larger vehicles may not be able to travel safely.

WFP is already using the app on Dnipro, and plans to expand its operations to Chernivsti, Kyiv, Lviv and Vinnystia.

Uber's participation in the food program is carried out under dangerous conditions due to the war in Ukraine due to the Russian invasion.
