Had The Thought Of Retiring From Football, Hamka Hamzah Said There Was A Role For Rans Cilegon FC That Made Him Enthusiastic Again

JAKARTA - Football player Hamka Hamzah is enjoying free time, because ahead of Liga 1 2022/2023 he is still not tied to any club. On the sidelines of the empty schedule, Hamka, who is currently focusing on his business, revealed that he had thought about retiring from the world of football.

However, the desire to hang up the shoes was finally just a discourse in the head. His enthusiasm to return to the field cannot be separated from the role of Rans Cilegon FC belonging to celebrity Raffi Ahmad.

Hamka revealed, when he was in a confused situation to determine his career, Raffi Ahmad contacted him and offered to join Rans FC. This invitation made Hamka enthusiastic about appearing on the field again.

"Yesterday I wanted to retire from football, but Aa Raffi Ahmad invited (to Rans), that moment made me enthusiastic again (performing on the field)," said Hamka sharing his experience when met in the South Jakarta area, Monday, May 30.

The former 2014 national team player also said that the opportunities that came to him also yielded sweet results. Because, after receiving an offer to join Rans FC, Hamka can also prove that his performance can still be relied on for the progress of the club he is defending.

"When I play, I continue to be enthusiastic, especially when I can bring Rans FC through to League 1. That makes my motivation even more, so (the intention) to retire is not there now," continued Hamka.

Regarding the moment when Hamka intended to hang up his shoes, it was driven by circumstances that he considered very confusing. Because, at that time the COVID-19 pandemic was hitting Indonesia which also made almost all sectors of life declined drastically.

"Except at the beginning of COVID-19, we football players have to wait a few years before we can play again. So that situation made my motivation drop. But if you still play now," added Hamka.

Although Rans FC had a role in deciding his intention to retire, unfortunately, the togetherness of Hamka Hamzah and Raffi Ahmad's club did not last long. Because after delivering Rans FC promotion to Liga 1 for the 2022/2023 season, Hamka decided to say goodbye on 7 February.
