Thamrin-Sudirman Street Is Closed On Car Free Day

JAKARTA - On the first day of the Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB), Metro Jaya Police closed a number of roads leading to the Thamrin-Sudirman Street area, Sunday, May 22.

A number of officers from the police along with the Transportation Service and the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) are on guard at every point on the road linking Thamrin-Sudirman Street, Jakarta.

The closure was carried out from 06.00 until the end of the HBKB or "Car Free Day" (CFD) at 10.00 western Indonesia time from the Horse Statue area to the Senayan Roundabout.

The closures include Kebon Sirih Street, Wahid Hasyim Street, SCBD Street, Pintu Satu Senayan Street and from Sisingamangaraja Street to Sudirman Street.

Likewise, roads that go directly to Thamrin-Sudirman Street are also closed, such as Penjernihan Street and Galunggung Street.

Meanwhile, traffic in the Horse Statue area from Medan Merdeka Selatan Street is continued to Budi Kemuliaan Street because Thamrin Street is temporarily closed to vehicles.

The only vehicle that operates along Sudirman-Thamrin is the TransJakarta fleet because it uses environmentally friendly fuel.

Meanwhile, a number of residents were enthusiastic about enjoying the first day of HBKB on Thamrin-Sudirman Street.

They are free to fill the entire body of the road either by walking, cycling, and even a number of residents using roller skates.

"I'm from Roxy going to Senayan wearing roller skates," said a resident, Hasan, who was met on Sudirman Street, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.

Even though the government has relaxed the provisions on the use of masks, the majority of residents are still wearing masks. In addition to the dense number of people, also to anticipate air quality.

"Because there are a lot of people anticipating the fog, we didn't know it was pollution," said resident Alisa.

Thamrin-Sudirman Street is one of the roads in Jakarta that applies HBKB from 06.00-10.00 western Indonesia time.

4. Lake Sunter Selatan Street (Simpang Karya Beton to GOR Sunter), North Jakarta

5. Suryo Pranoto Street (Harmony Intersection to Tarakan Hospital Intersection), Central Jakarta

6. Pemuda Street (Arion Intersection to TU-GAS Intersection), East Jakarta
