Compared To 2019 Homecoming, The 2022 Homecoming Accident Rate Drops 11 Percent
JAKARTA - Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy said the number of homecoming accidents in 2022 fell 11 percent from the same period in 2019.
"Alhamdulillah, there has been a significant improvement from 2019. This is an indicator of our success in handling homecoming," said Muhadjir Effendy in Jakarta, Thursday, May 19.
Based on data from the Integrated Lebaran Transport Command Post in 2022, said Muhadjir, cumulatively from D-7 to the second day of Eid (25 April-3 May 2022), the number of homecomers who use public transportation is 6.3 million people.
He said proof of the successful implementation of the 2022 homecoming is that the number of accidents has decreased compared to the 2019 homecoming.
Based on data from the Traffic Corps of National Police during Lebaran homecoming this year, there have been 3,457 cases of traffic accidents, a decrease of 11 percent compared to 2019 as many as 3,875 cases.
From the accident cases, 530 people died, or a decrease of 40 percent compared to 2019 as many as 883 people.
Meanwhile, victims of serious injuries increased by 27 percent or 380 people to 483 people, and victims of minor injuries increased by 3 percent as many as 4,404 people to 4,517 people this year.
Muhadjir said that community satisfaction with the handling of going home was also very good. Based on the results of the Indonesian Political Indicators survey, 73.8 percent of the people are satisfied with the government's performance in organizing and handling the 2022 Eid homecoming.

In detail, 12.6 percent are very satisfied and 61.2 percent are quite satisfied. 30 percent of respondents are satisfied because they can Lebaran in their hometown. A total of 17.6 percent of respondents felt that the implementation of this year's homecoming made life feel normal again.
Meanwhile, 6.2 percent are satisfied because the infrastructure and transportation modes are getting better, and 3.4 percent each assessed that the implementation of this year's homecoming will provide economic benefits and Eid will be more enjoyable.
"This success cannot be separated from the leadership of President Joko Widodo, who directly led this activity," he said, quoted by Antara.
Muhadjir expressed his appreciation for the hard work of all relevant parties, namely the Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of PUPR, the Ministry of SOEs, the Police, the TNI, the Regional Government and the ranks of SOEs so that the management of going home can run well.
"As the coordinator, I would like to thank all related parties so that the implementation of this homecoming is successful, safe, healthy. And the implementation of this homecoming also received appreciation from the President," he said.
