Hendra/Ahsan Saying Goodbye After Indonesia Failed To Defend The Thomas Cup Title: The Struggle Is Over
JAKARTA - Indonesia's senior men's doubles pair, Mohammad Ahsan/Hendra Setiawan said goodbye to the men's team. This was revealed by The Daddies after failing to help Indonesia defend the 2022 Thomas Cup title on Sunday, May 15.
The Red and White Squad had to swallow the bitter pill because they lost to India with a landslide score of 0-3 in the final. Hendra did not play in the final, while Ahsan was paired with Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo.
Through their personal social media, both Ahsan and Hendra said that the 2022 Thomas Cup was their last edition to appear in the men's team tournament.

"Bismillah, finally my struggle for the Thomas Cup is over. Starting from 2010 until the end here," said Mohammad Ahsan on his Instagram @king.chayra.
"This will be a beautiful memory in my career. From sadness, to disappointment and happiness. Thank you to PBSI who have trusted me and captain Hendra Setiawan. Jaya is always Indonesian badminton," Ahsan continued in a statement.

In the 2022 Thomas Cup, Hendra, who was the captain of the team, only appeared once. However, he still expressed his gratitude and advised that all male players must remain enthusiastic so that in the next edition they can present the title.
"My last Thomas Cup. Thank you friends for the extraordinary struggle. Keep the spirit and hopefully, we can win it back in 2024," said Hendra.
"Thank you also to all Indonesian people for their prayers and support," he concluded.
