Bivol Coach Warns Canelo If He Wants To Rematch: He Will Make You Even More Battered
JAKARTA - After Dmitry Bivol beat Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez last Sunday, one of Bivol's coaches said that a rematch between the two boxers could be counterproductive for Canelo.
According to Joel Diaz, if Bivol returns to the ring with Canelo, the Russian could make the Mexican boxer even more battered.
“If there is a rematch, Bivol will make Canelo even more battered. There were a lot of combinations he didn't use and could have used. If he fights Canelo again, it will be a lot easier for Bivol because he will find an easier way to hurt him more," Diaz explained, in an interview with the YouTube channel, Behind The Gloves quoted from Marca, Wednesday, May 11.
The coach thinks, by moving up the category to fight Bivol, Canelo has received the consequences.
"Simply put, the difference in weight will tire him out. Even though Canelo's punches are strong. Maybe the jump to light heavyweight isn't what he expected, Bivol is a bigger fighter and in that division the boxers have to defend more," the coach explained.
On another occasion, Diaz also pointed out that at some point many thought the fight could end in a draw.
"We thought if we won by decision they would call it a draw, but the judges, like me, saw Bivol win," Diaz said in an interview with ESPN Knockout.

The coach also expressed his happiness after Bivol beat the best boxer in recent years, who was undoubtedly the favorite in that duel.
"We're very happy and we feel perfect because we beat the best fighter of this era. I always say to expect the unexpected. I told them I knew his punch wasn't going to hurt Bivol as many people think," he said.
