These 2 Regions In NTT Experience Very Long Days Without Rain, Maximum 60 Days

JAKARTA - El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station, Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that two areas in East Nusa Tenggara had experienced a very long Day Without Rain (HTH).

"Two areas that have experienced very long HTH (31-60 days) are around Rambangaru, East Sumba Regency and around Fatubenao, Belu Regency", said Head of the BMKG El Tari Kupang Meteorological Station, Agung Sudiono Abadi, Tuesday, May 10, quoted from Antara.

He said this was related to the current climate conditions in the NTT region which were updated as of May 10, 2022.

Agung said that people in areas with very long HTH need to be aware of the impact of disasters such as the clean water crisis and the threat of forest and land fires.

"People need to have sufficient water supplies to meet their needs in facing the threat of drought", he said.

Furthermore, Agung explained that based on HTH monitoring on Dasarian I in May 2022, it was known that in general, the NTT area was in the very short HTH category (11-20 days).

While some areas are still experiencing Rainy Days (HH), namely around Mataloko, Ngada Regency, Bokasape, Watuneso, and Kelimutu, Ende Regency.

In addition, around Paga and Nangablo, Sikka Regency, and around Waitabula, Southwest Sumba Regency.

The remaining rainfall, he said, could be utilized by the community by collecting rainwater for needs during the dry season.
