After Deciding To Retire From The Italian National Team, Chiellini Begins To Consider His Career At Juventus

JAKARTA - Senior Juventus defender, Giorgio Chiellini firmly conveys his decision to retire from the Italian national team after the match against Argentina in the middle of the year. After the big decision, Chiellini also began to consider the continuation of his career at the Italian giant club, Juventus.

Chiellini began to think about this, considering that in June 2023 his work contract with the Old Lady will expire. Moreover, the age of the defender is also not young, which is 38 years in August 2022.

Regarding his career in Turin with Juventus, Chiellini said he would consider it slowly and wisely, but remained firm about his decision on the Italian national team.

"I'll sit down with my two families and find out what's best for everyone, but my last Italy game was against Argentina", Chiellini was quoted as saying by Football Italia.

Even though he is not young anymore, Chiellini is still a mainstay for Juventus. This was seen when Juventus won 2-1 over Sassuolo on Tuesday morning this morning.

In that match, Chiellini was trusted by Massimiliano Allegri to enter in the 55th minute. He was asked by the coach to replace Daniele Rugani.

Along with the team's belief in him, Chiellini also emphasized his love for the Old Lady will never run out. However, he has to calmly consider decisions regarding career matters.

"Of course, I love this (club), but from now until the end of the season I have to evaluate all plans and other things", continued the former Fiorentina player.

Furthermore, the owner of the number three jersey emphasized that although he is currently considering the continuation of his career in the team, his focus remains on the goal of bringing Juve to finish in the top four while winning the Coppa Italia trophy.

"Let's get to fourth place first and win the Coppa Italia. I hope you can see I'm happy, relaxed and want to continue enjoying myself with my teammates", said Chiellini.

Despite the consideration of his career at Juventus, Chiellini firmly confirmed that his retirement from the Italian national team will take effect after the match against Argentina on June 1 at Wembley Stadium.

Argentina and Italy will duel in the 2022 Finalissima after both countries successfully won prestigious titles on their respective continents. Italy came out as winners of Euro 2020 which was held last year, while Argentina was the champion of the Copa America.
