BEM SI Responds To Adian Napitupulu, Why Jokowi Is Not The Minister Who Discourses On Postponing Elections

JAKARTA - The BEM coordinator, SI Kaharuddin, responded to PDIP politician Adian Napitupulu who questioned the students protesting President Joko Widodo regarding the postponement of the election and the extension of the presidential term, not the minister who echoed the discourse. Kaharuddin explained that Jokowi has a responsibility to regulate his ministers, including talking about postponing elections. In fact, Jokowi should be firm with his ministers who are still rolling out the discourse.

"The president as the highest responsible head of state must be firm with his assistants. The president is the top responsible minister", said Kaharuddin in Jakarta, Sunday, April 10.

Kahar criticized Adian because it seemed that he did not represent the aspirations of the people. In fact, he said, Adian himself is a member of the Indonesia House of Representatives.

"Currently, when council members criticize the student movement, today students will criticize council members. How the aspirations are taken are the aspirations of the party, not the aspirations of the people like that", said Kahar.

Previously, Secretary-General of the National Association of Activists (PENA) 98 Adian Napitupulu suggested that students not protest against President Jokowi regarding the discourse on postponing the election and extending the presidential term.

He also asked the students to demonstrate to the ministers and several general chairmen of the parties who carried the discourse.

"It's not Jokowi who is talking about extending the presidential term, but there are three ministers. Then why was Jokowi protesting, not the ministers?", said Adian Napitupulu in his statement, Friday, April 8.

The DPR member from PDIP admitted that he was confused by the current political condition. Because supposedly, the three ministers who raised the discourse on extending the president's term of office should be the ones to protest, not Jokowi.
