Good News, The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association Lowers Hotel Room Rates In Bali Up To 50 Percent Ahead Of The Eid Holiday

DENPASAR - The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) Bali has lowered the price of hotel room rates by up to 50 percent on the Island of the Gods.

This was done to restore tourism in Bali, especially with the visa-free policy for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN) and also ahead of the Eid holidays.

I Gusti Ngurah Rai Suryawijaya, Deputy Chair of the Environmental Culture and Public Relations Division of the Bali PHRI Regional Management Agency, said hotel rates ranging from three stars to five stars fell by 50 percent. This was also done because of the expansion of Visa On Arrival (VoA) to 43 countries and also promoting Bali tourism.

"We do special package room rates. So special prices, we will really give it so that tourism can recover. On average, our rooms provide discounts of up to 50 percent and the airline also gives extraordinary price discounts," said Suryawijaya, when met in Denpasar, Bali, Friday, April 8.

"That has been implemented because we are in the context of promoting a welcome back to Bali. So they will come to Bali so they can tell them again that Bali is very worth visiting, Bali is safe, comfortable, and special prices apply," he added.

Meanwhile, the current estimated price for a hotel room per day for five stars is around IDR 2.5 million to IDR 3 million per day. Then, for four stars around IDR 2 million and three stars at a price of IDR 1.5 million to IDR 1 million per day.

"For domestic tourists, of course, 3 and 4 stars and foreign tourists 4 and 5 as well as villas that provide comfort and security," he said.

With the no-quarantine policy, VoA, and the current visa-free policy for ASEAN countries, tourism in Bali has started to expand and there is an increase in hotel occupancy. Because, per day, 2.000 foreign travelers (PPLN) have arrived in Bali.

"Now it has started to reach 2 thousand per day. Because there are 10 international flights that go directly to Bali. We see that many tourists have started to come and the hotel occupancy rate has moved to increase and now it has reached 25 percent. We hope that next week it will be April 2022, there will be 19 airlines landing in Bali," he said.

He also mentioned, with the Eid holiday, many domestic tourists will come to Bali and it is predicted that hotel occupancy will reach 40 percent.

"Idul Fitri, of course, the domestic will increase. Moreover, there is no PCR and their antigens will spend a lot of vacations in Bali. During Eid, it can reach 40 percent," he said.

With the VoA policy, no quarantine and visa-free for countries in ASEAN as well as foreign tourists (tourists) have been made easier.

There is no need for a PCR test when landing at the airport and it will reduce their costs and the interest of prospective foreign tourists coming to Bali will increase.

"We hope that it will reach 40 percent (hotel occupancy) by the end of this year and by 2023 we will be able to recover, so that the acceleration of tourism and economic recovery in Bali can be achieved in 2023," he said.

"Currently we are only two thousand. I am sure that by the middle of the year in July and August 2022, we will be able to reach five thousand foreign tourists and 15 thousand domestic tourists, which is enough to fill our 40 percent occupancy," he said.
