Rocky Gerung: Intellectual Figures And Experts In Constitutional Law Have Been Hired So That The Three-Term Presidential Discourse Makes Sense

JAKARTA - There is an uproar about the discourse on a three-term president and the postponement of the 2024 general election. President Joko Widodo has finally smacked his ministers directly by giving orders not to talk about the discourse anymore.

The moment occurred during the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace on Tuesday, April 5.

Political observer Rocky Gerung believes that the discourse on extending presidential power will continue. He said that Jokowi's orders to his ministers were only diplomatic words so that they were judged to hear the voices of the people who were critical of the discourse.

Even Rocky thinks that Jokowi has secretly approved the discourse of extending the presidential term.

Jokowi did agree, he didn't say it secretly, to send his operational assistants to the regions to make a determination [extension of the presidential term]," he said, quoted from the Rocky Gerung's Official YouTube channel, Friday, April 8.

Rocky said the operation of determination will continue because Jokowi's main goal is to feel power as the nation's capital city (IKN) is built in East Kalimantan.

"We will continue to see the operation of determination, he can't stop it, because it is clear that Jokowi's main goal is to enjoy power so that he can enjoy the new capital city," he added.

According to Rocky, in order to smooth the operation of this determination, experts and intellectual figures were involved with the agenda of drafting a three-term presidential opinion so that it would make sense to the public.

"It doesn't stop with determination, even intellectual figures have been hired, they start making opinions about the plausibility of the three periods, forestry experts (constitutional law) are also being bribed, maybe with electric cars because their garages have been made wider. , because it requires a legal opinion to realize three periods," Rocky claims.

As previously reported, President Jokowi instructed his ministers to stop talking about a three-term president and postponing the 2024 general election. He asked the cabinet ranks to focus on work.

"Don't let anyone talk about the issue of postponement, the issue of extension. No," said Jokowi during the Plenary Cabinet Session which was broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube, Wednesday, April 6.

Jokowi reminded that in acting his ministers adhere to the current sense of community crisis. It is important to explain to the public, said Jokowi, about the situation they are currently facing.
