Get Petronas As Main Sponsor, Sepang Circuit Holds Malaysian MotoGP Until 2024
JAKARTA - Dorna Sports announced that the Sepang International Circuit will hold a MotoGP race until 2024. In fact, all parties have now discussed extending it until 2026.
In addition, Dorna also announced a new partnership with Petronas. The Malaysian oil company will be the main sponsor of the MotoGP race at the Sepang Circuit.
Starting the 2022 season, the MotoGP race at Sepang is officially named the Petronas Grand Prix of Malaysia.
"We are very pleased to confirm the Malaysian Grand Prix will remain on the calendar until at least 2024. Malaysia is a vital market for MotoGP and pride to race at Sepang and witnessed the incredible passion of the fans who filled the stands," said Dorna CEO Carmelo. Ezpeleta, on the official MotoGP website.

"After proving that we can return to Malaysia for pre-season testing this year, we couldn't be more excited to be back and racing. We are all looking forward to the Malaysian Grand Prix and seeing Malaysian fans for a few more seasons."
This agreement was certainly welcomed by Azhan Shafriman Hanif, CEO of the Sepang International Circuit. He would like to thank all those who have made this a reality.
"By breaking audience records year after year, we look forward to welcoming fans back to Sepang after a two-year break due to the pandemic. In line with our #WelcomeHome theme, this year is about the international resurgence of motorsports with even more unique offerings to fans, " he said.
The Sepang Circuit has been absent for the last two seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This decision was taken in line with the Malaysian government's policy of carrying out strict restrictions to suppress the spread of the corona virus.
Malaysia's Sepang Circuit is scheduled to host MotoGP in the 20th series, to be exact on October 23. The event in Sepang takes place before the close of the MotoGP season in Valencia.
