Arsenal Defeated By Liverpool, Arteta: The Results Do Not Reflect The Team's Performance
JAKARTA - Arsenal lost 0-2 when they hosted Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium in the 27th week of the 2021/2022 English League. In the match on Thursday, March 17, Indonesian Western Time (WIB), two goals for the Reds were created by Diogo Jota in the 54th minute and Roberto Firmino (62).
This result is a bitter thing that Arsenal received in front of their own supporters. The Gunners also have to work harder to finish in the top four.
Responding to the minus results achieved by his team, coach Mikel Arteta was clearly not happy. Moreover, he felt that the final result of this match did not reflect the performance his team had shown throughout the match.
"I don't think this result really shows our performance," Arteta said as reported by Arsenal's official website on Thursday.
"From the box to the box, I think a lot of our moments were better than theirs," he added.
Arteta also said that overall Arsenal had appeared brave to face Liverpool. Unfortunately, Martin Odegaard et al are not sharp enough to score goals.
Moreover, according to Arteta, the Gunners actually had a chance to score first. The moment occurred when Odegaard kicked the ball towards the opponent's goal, unfortunately, his shot was saved by Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker.

However, after that opportunity, the opportunities continued to favor the Reds who were keen to take advantage of Arsenal's high defensive line. The result was Diogo Jota's opener which came from a through ball.
"Unfortunately a match like this is decided by a win in the penalty box. That's the crucial difference today we have to accept it," said Arteta.
Losing three points at home to Liverpool meant that Arsenal could only pack 51 points and make them sit in fourth place in the standings. The number is only one point difference from Manchester United (MU) which is ranked fifth.
