Surabaya Police Thwarts Circulation Of 46.6 Kg Of Crystal Methamphetamine
SURABAYA - Polrestabes Surabaya, East Java, thwarted the circulation of 46.6 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine.
Surabaya Police Chief, Commissioner Akhmad Yusep Gunawan, confirmed that five gangs of traffickers were arrested in a number of different places from January 11, 2022 to February 28, 2022.
"This gang of traffickers is from the Middle East network", he told reporters in Surabaya, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, March 2.
Of the five dealers who were arrested, three of them were residents of Sidoarjo, East Java, each with the initials DV (34), MB (21), and AS (21).
In addition, ED (26), a resident of Surabaya, and IP (29), a resident of Bandung, West Java.
Of all the evidence of methamphetamine that was secured, it was seen that each of the packages had Chinese characters written on them.
"Indeed, there is still a connection from the distribution gang in December 2021 which was released by the Head of the East Java Regional Police", he said.
However, he said, based on an investigation by the Surabaya Police, the circulation came from the Middle East.
He explained that the methamphetamine entered Indonesia through sea and land transportation routes, namely through Aceh on the island of Sumatra to the island of Java and finally arrived in the city of Surabaya which was then circulated to all corners of the country.
"The circulation routes are always different. Most of them use a mine system or the delivery is interrupted. The term from the perpetrators is that they take goods from one place without knowing the sender", he said.

The police are still developing an investigation to hunt down other possible perpetrators involved, including hunting for a supplier with the initials JK who has been named on the wanted list (DPO).
"In addition, we identified an inmate who is currently serving a sentence at a Penitentiary in the East Java region, who according to the perpetrator's confession is said to be controlling the circulation", he said.
