Milla Jovovich, Ukrainian-born Film Star Saddened By Russia's Invasion Of Her Homeland
JAKARTA - Russia's invasion of Ukraine saddened Milla Jovovich, an artist born in Ukraine. He was "heartbroken and shocked" by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. On Friday, the Ukrainian-born actress wrote on Instagram about trying to "process what happened" in her hometown.
"The country and society are being bombed. Friends and family are hiding," he wrote as reported by Antara.
The Resident Evil star explained that he has close ties to both Russia and Ukraine. "I was torn in two as I watched the horrors unfold, countries destroyed, families displaced, their whole lives lying in charred ruins all around them."
He remembered the war in his father's hometown in the former Yugoslavia and family stories about the trauma and terror felt by war.
