Agree With Jokowi To Suppress Omicron, KPAI Says Students May Choose PTM Or PJJ According To Conditions
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) assesses that the option of learning at school or home is better returned to students and their families following suit
there is a proposal to stop face-to-face learning (PTM) in the midst of increasing cases of COVID-19, the Omicron variant.
KPAI Commissioner, Retno Listyarti, supports President Joko Widodo's statement to evaluate the 100 percent PTM policy following the spread of the Omicron case in Indonesia. According to her, the president's statement shows his seriousness in protecting Indonesian children.
"Moreover, the 4 Ministerial Decrees that decide 100 percent of PTM were made in December 2021 when COVID-19 cases in Indonesia continued to decline from August to November 2021", said Retno in her statement, Thursday, February 3.
From this latest pandemic condition, Retno said, KPAI encourages children and families to choose learning options. In a sense, it is still allowed to choose Face-to-face Learning (PTM) or distance learning (PJJ) based on the conditions and risk profile of each family.
"Local transmission of the Omicron variant has been reported in Indonesia. There have even been cases of death due to Omicron. So we must prioritize the safety of Indonesian children", she stressed.

Do not let, she said, students who should go straight home after school instead hang out outside.
"That is, once students leave the school environment, it must be ensured that it becomes the authority of which party for supervision/monitoring", concluded Retno.
