Malang City Health Office: COVID-19 Spike Due To Family Cluster
MALANG - Malang City Health Office, East Java, stated that the spike in positive confirmed cases of COVID-19 was due to the spread of the coronavirus in the family and education clusters.
Head of the Malang City Health Office, Dr. Husnul Muarif, said that 37 cases were recorded in one of the schools in the area. While in the family environment there are 12 positive cases of COVID-19.
"Cases are increasing because there are sources, because there are clusters. There are educational institution clusters and family clusters. For schools there are 37 cases and 12 cases for families, that dominates," Husnul said, quoted by Antara, Monday, January 24.
Face-to-face learning activities at MAN 2 Malang City were suspended for approximately 14 days following the discovery of one student who was exposed to the coronavirus. The termination of the PTM will be carried out starting January 18, 2022.
Starting from the finding of one positive confirmed case of COVID-19, the Malang City Health Service has carried out tracking by running antigen tests on 600 people at the school. As a result, 37 people were confirmed positive for COVID-19.
It was recorded, as of Monday, January 24, based on data from the East Java Provincial Government, in the Malang City area, there were 97 active cases of positive confirmation of COVID-19. The increase in cases in the region has been recorded since January 18, 2022.
Since January 18-24, 2022, there have been an additional 85 new positive confirmed cases of COVID-19. It was recorded that on January 17 in Malang City there were 12 active cases and 97 active cases on January 24, 2022.
Husnul added, related to the omicron variant, there were also additional new cases recorded. Currently, there are two new cases recorded, so overall in the Malang City area, three cases of omicron have been found. One of the three patients has been declared cured.

In the new case, Husnul continued, the patient had been in self-isolation for approximately 11 days since being declared exposed to the corona virus. The two patients were declared asymptomatic due to exposure to COVID-19.
"The results are two positive (omicron). Tomorrow will be the 11th day of self-isolation. Because without symptoms, it can be declared that the isolation is complete and cured," said Husnul.
He added that from the two cases of omicron, the Malang City Health Service had traced approximately 26 people who had a history of close contact with positive patients.
"We are tracking for 12 people in case one, and in one other 14 people. All of them are negative," he said.
In Malang City, as of January 24, 2022, there were 15,758 positive confirmed cases of COVID-19, with 97 active cases. Of the total, 14,528 people were reported to have recovered, 1,133 people were declared dead.
