Green Light! Netflix CEO Confirms 'Squid Game' Season Two
JAKARTA - Netflix CEO, Ted Sarandos confirmed that there will be a second season of the hit series from South Korea, Squid Game. Citing Variety, Sarandos is very open to the choice to develop the story by Hwang Dong Hyuk.
"Obviously, the 'Squid Game' universe has just begun," said Ted Sarandos on Thursday, January 20 local time.
The success of the Squid Game does not need to be doubted. Released in September 2021, the series immediately overtook Bridgerton at the top of Netflix worldwide rankings.
Squid Game also scored various achievements and records, ranging from nominations for Golden Globes, Gotham Awards, and SAG Awards to all things Squid Game being loved by the public.

Previously, director Hwang Dong Hyuk mentioned plans for a second season of Squid Game. At first, he had no intention of developing the story but due to the many requests and support, he finally wanted to give it a try.
“There is a lot of pressure, demand, and love for season two. So I feel like you guys left us no choice! But I can say there is a second season. It's in my head now," said Hwang Dong Hyuk.
In addition, he also believes that actor Lee Jung Jae will return in the second part of Squid Game as Seong Gi Hun.
Squid Game tells the struggle of 456 participants in fighting over 45.6 million Won. Besides Lee Jung Jae, this series also features Park Hae Soo, Jung Ho Yeon, and O Yeong Su who received Supporting Actor at the Golden Globe.
