Denies Allegations Of Targeting Certain Parties Including Golkar, KPK: Lots Of Landmines Spread, Regardless Of Color

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confirmed that it is not targeting any particular party. All parties who commit corruption will be snared indiscriminately.

This was conveyed by the Deputy for Enforcement and Execution of the Corruption Eradication Commission, Karyoto, responding to allegations circulating that the prosecution was carried out based on the color of the political party.

"Is it Golkar, Golkar? In our opinion, this is just bad luck. Because so far the mines that have been spread by the KPK are quite a lot, not just 10, 20 but hundreds," Karyoto said at a press conference at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta, Thursday, January 20 in the morning.

Karyoto said that all public reports related to corruption allegations would certainly be investigated by the KPK without exception. "We do not look at the color, no. But based on the existing reports," he said.

"Then we will follow up with our methods where by law it is legal for us to conduct wiretapping. Yes, if it has not been monitored, the fate may still not be caught," added Karyoto.

For information, the KPK is accused of arresting regional heads from certain parties, namely the Golkar Party. The reason is that two regional heads, namely the Mayor of Bekasi, Rahmat Effendi or Pepen, and the Regent of Langkat, Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin, was named suspects in less than a week.

In addition, this accusation also emerged from the daughter of the Mayor of Bekasi, Ade Puspitasari, who had conveyed this and the video was crowded on social media.

In the video clip, the chairman of the Bekasi City Golkar DPD did not accept her father's arrest and said there was a special operation at the KPK targeting the party bearing the banyan symbol.

"Yellow is being targeted. We all know who is after yellow. But later in 2024, if yellow combines with orange, other colors will die," he said in a video circulating on social media.

Not only that, she also said the arrest of her father was a form of character assassination. Moreover, during the sting operation (OTT) on Wednesday, January 5, the KPK said that Ade did not bring anything when they arrested Pepen.

"There are a lot of witnesses, the staff at home are witnesses. How was Mr. Mayor (Rahmat Effendi) picked up at home, how did Mr. Mayor only bring the body. KPK only brought Mr. Mayor's body, did not bring a penny," said Ade.

Ade assessed that OTT should be done when there is a transaction. "This does not exist. That the Mayor and the KPK did not bring money from the pavilion. The money that was in the KPK was money from party fees when, from the head of the service, from the sub-district head. That was development, there was no OTT, indeed this was character assassination," she said.
