Ministry Of Foreign Affairs: No Indonesian Citizens Become Victims Of The Tonga Tsunami
JAKARTA - The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemlu) said that no Indonesian citizens (WNI) were victims of the tsunami disaster in Tonga after an underwater volcano erupted on Saturday, January 15, crippling communication lines.
"Samoa and the Cook Islands are also affected. The Indonesian Embassy in Wellington has contacted the Indonesian citizen nodes in each place and it was reported that no Indonesian citizens were victims," said the Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens (PWNI) and Indonesian Legal Entities (BHI) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha in a written statement, quoted by Antara, Sunday, January 16.
The Indonesian Embassy in Wellington has conveyed a warning to all Indonesian citizens in its accreditation area.
The Indonesian Embassy also continues to coordinate and communicate with various parties in New Zealand and Tonga to find out the condition of Indonesian citizens in Tonga.
