Supporting SMEs, Bobby Nasution Wants To Develop Medan Post Office As A Post Bloc

JAKARTA – Innovations for the development of MSMEs are being prepared by the Mayor of Medan, Bobby Nasution. President Joko Widodo's son-in-law wants to develop the Medan Post Office to become a Post Bloc as a forum for advancing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in this area.

"In addition to being a place for MSMEs, the Medan Post Office will later become a place for Medan residents to hang out. Because there are creative shops, co-working, digital studios, and live houses," Bobby said in Medan, Friday.

The mayor explained that the Ministry of SOEs will develop the Medan Post Office into a Post Bloc this year, which is used for MSME players to develop their business.

"The development of the post office is also in line with the commitment of the Medan City Government to preserve historic buildings, and at the same time raise the class of local MSME players," Bobby said, as quoted by Antara.

The head of the Medan City Cooperatives and SMEs Service, Benny Iskandar Nasution, said he was optimistic that Pos Bloc could market superior products that were able to compete in terms of quality and price.

"Besides that, we will certainly look for innovative Medan MSME products to be marketed there," said Iskandar Nasution.

His party is currently collecting data on MSME actors spread across 21 sub-districts with various business sectors, such as trading, car repair, motorcycles, providing accommodation, and eating and drinking.

According to him, this data collection also identified the potential for superior MSME products in each sub-district, including Medan Sunggal rattan handicrafts, Medan Tuntungan tape and snacks, Medan Belawan, and Medan Labuhan processed fish.
